This walk will go across to the island of Lindisfarne at low tide, and will be raising money for the RE Council and local charity the Great North Air Ambulance, which provides excellent service to the region where many people live more than 50 miles from the nearest A&E hospital department.

The Durham walk will highlight the rich diversity of tradition within Christianity. In just a couple of hours around Durham city centre we shall visit at least ten very different places of worship; they include a university college chapel, a Methodist church, an Anglican church used by the Orthodox community, Durham Cathedral, a Quaker Meeting Room, Sanctuary 21 (Salvation Army) and a priory. The walk itself will take place on Sunday 30th June, starting at Carter House, Durham, at approximately 1pm (timings tbc).
Our plan is to invite all RE teachers from Durham LA, Durham Diocese and Newcastle Diocese and to place an invite on the Durham Diocese forum, opening it up to hundreds of people (lay and clergy) from across the diocese.
